Built in 1926 it initially featured live performances and silent movies. Jimmie Rodgers (The Father of Country Music), Will Rogers, singer Elvis Presley, musician Liberace, and comedians Bob Hope and Jack Benny were among the notables to have performed here. During the silent movie era Mrs. Agnes Colley, an organist and music teacher at the First Presbyterian Church, played piano during the picture shows. The theater closed in 1988 and is currently undergoing renovations.
