Burneta Venosdel will be our Artist of the Month at The Museum of Western Art for the month of August. Her reception will be on August 16th at 5:30 p.m. Each month, a wine and cheese reception is held with a brief talk by the artist about his or her work and inspiration. These events are complimentary for museum members; a suggested donation of $10 for non-members is welcome.

Burneta Venosdel is a national award-winning sculptor, who specializes realistic bronze sculpture. Growing up in northwestern Oklahoma, the great granddaughter of pioneer families, provides the foundation and experiences from which she draws her inspiration to create dynamic strong western influenced detail-rich modern pieces. Burneta is influenced by the works of Remington and Russell and many of the contemporaries with whom she has studied like Garland Weeks, Cynthia Rigdon, John Coleman, Harold “H” Holden, Richard Loffler, Rozalind Cook, Veryl Goodnight and Curt Mattson.
